JEREMIAH 29:10-13

God’s Plan for Our Lives

Jeremiah 29:10-13

  • 10 For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
  • 11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
  • 12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
  • 13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:10-13

According to Jeremiah 29:10-13 God has a plan for our lives. What does your eternal future hold?

God sent the Jews into exile at Babylon. After that, Jeremiah, was instructed by the Lord to write a note to the people of Israel, who were now captives.

False Prophets were not part of God’s plan

False prophets were telling the Jews that they would not be in Babylon for very long. However, God’s plan was for them to remain in Babylon for seventy years. God told Jeremiah to tell them that they were not to expect anything different for the entire time. In other words stop listening to the false prophets. Jeremiah’s letters were to address all the Jewish captives, not just certain individuals.

God’s Plan for the Jewish Captives in Babylon

God has plans for their future, knowing what kind of people they are. He goes on to say that when he thinks about them, they are with thoughts are of peace and not evil. The people can rest assured that they will always have an eternal home with God. That is, depending on how they live. The Jews are to live in peace and build houses; provide for themselves the necessities of life and have many children.

They need to put their trust in God. The Lord says that if they call out to Him in prayers, he will listen to them and whenever they earnestly seek Him, with all their hearts, they will find him.

My Prayer for Jeremiah 29:10-13

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord that I know you have plans for my life, They are the same desires and plans as you have for all your children. Which are to prosper us, not to harm us. But, plans to give us hope and a future.

Father, following the directions from the Bible we are required to live peacefully throughout the good and the difficult times. We are to seek out your Word, your character, and give our whole heart over to you. Which helps us to live according to your plan and to remain close to you.

My life may look totally different than what I may want or perhaps even expect (as your child). However by living the way I am meant to live, allows me to stay close to you. In that, I know I am living in your will and I can be assured of hope and a future.

Thank you Father God, I am truly grateful.

In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Hallelujah
