In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. (KJV)
David said when I am afraid, I will trust in God. David turns to The Lord when he’s afraid. He knows that the Almighty can take his fear away and save him.
At this point in David’s life, Saul is wanting to murder him. As a result, Saul has an army of men looking for him. If that isn’t enough there is now also a crowd of men from Gath, chasing him out of their city. He has been running all day and has finally found refuge in a cave.
David begins to write a Psalm of lament. He writes that he will not fear what the people chasing him will do. David is aware that he is made of skin and bones and that his flesh is weak. However, God is eternal and the Almighty. So David rightfully places his trust in God and praises Him for who He is.
My Prayer for Psalm 56:3-4
Thank you that I am your child as David is. When I am in a situation that calls on me to be brave allow me to put my trust in you, give me the courage and trust that you gave David.
May I always trust and praise you Lord, now and forever. You are above ALL others and so when the times come for me to stand strong in you, give me the courage, the faith and the want, to stand tall.
Thank you Lord. In the name of your son and my Saviour, Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
