Christian Conduct – Romans 12-12

Romans 12:1-2

  • 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  • 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)

Show others what it means to be a child of God. Romans 12-1-2
Romans 12:1-2

Paul is pleading with Christians to show others what it means to be a child of God. That is, look at everything that the Lord has done for us, and how we have been transformed. As a result, it is a reasonable service that we give back, showing others that we have truly changed from the inside to the out.

Because we have given ourselves to The Lord, we are not to think or exist like this world does. But, we are to change our ways of thinking and stand as God intends. Paul is asking that we give our entire beings over to the Lord as living sacrifices. Furthermore, that we are to position ourselves, in a way that shows others the will of God.

By doing so, it may convince others of what is good, acceptable, and the perfect way to live. Namely, stand in accordance to God’s ways.

My Prayer for Romans 12:1-2

Heavenly Father,

When I first became a Christian, people literally saw a change in me. And commented on how peaceful and more loving I had become. They wondered if living such a life could possibly be as easy as I made it out to be. So, I gave them my secret. That is, I changed from the inside out, because of Jesus.

You called me to be your child and I readily accepted. It now stands to reason that I should want to show others how wonderful it is to belong to the family of God. Thank you Lord that people have seen a difference in me. I pray that I can always be a good representation for you.

At Times I Don’t Set A Good Example

However, I also know from time to time, I do not set a good example. I still make mistakes and don’t always live up to how a Christian should be living.

This means that I do not always say or do the right thing. Likewise, I’m not always in a constant state of peace. There are definitely times when I say, do or act in a way that is not pleasing to you Lord. I am human and humans are not perfect. When I do or say something wrong, I should automatically turn to you Father and repent. Unfortunately, there are times, I do not come to you. It is in those circumstances when the Holy Spirit, who lives in me, corrects and convicts me.

However, though I hate to admit it, I sometimes, ignore the Holy Spirit’s nudges, encouraging me to repent. There are mainly two categories where I tend to not listen to the Holy Spirit.

  1. The times that I want to hold onto my anger against someone who has hurt me.
  2. Similarly, when I have said or done something against another person. Because I have hurt them, I hold onto the guilt, finding it hard to ask for forgiveness.

I Need You Lord

It’s in those times Lord, I truly need to come to you. Asking for help to break down my hardened or proud heart. Praise God, when I ask, you do help me.

The good news is, despite my downfalls, I am growing in you. Even when I make mistakes, I do my best to correct them as soon as possible. Thank you Father for knowing everything about me. You already know when I will fall and when I will get up again. I am so blessed to be a child in your family, and for you to be watching over me, as a loving father does. I am also grateful to have the privilege of Jesus and the Holy Spirit in my life.

With all honour and praise to you Father.

In the name of my Lord and Saviour JESUS Christ, I pray. Amen. Hallelujah!
